UK Spanish Translations.Com  was founded by Masters Graduate Irma De Filippi. As both a trained linguist and a native bilingual Spanish speaker of Chilean origin, Irma has an advanced understanding of Spanish language in practice.

Irma has over 10 years industry experience of Spanish linguistic roles and has previously worked as a linguist for Thomas Cook, The Home Office and The University of Manchester.  This has included business, financial, legal and general translation; Spanish legal, community and business interpreting; and teaching Spanish and English language to GCSE, A level and degree level.

As part of her academic training as a linguist Irma obtained a firm knowledge base in Spanish grammar, linguistics, interpreting and translation during her BA Honours degree in Latin American Studies (with Spanish) at the University of Portsmouth.  As a professional interpreter and translator with the Home Office and Refugee Action she has received extensive training in Spanish legal translation and simultaneous, consecutive and conference interpreting from Spanish to English and vice versa which has been certified by the Institute of Linguists. As a languages teacher Irma holds both the postgraduate certificate in teaching Modern Foreign Languages: (French and Spanish) and the Trinity College Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers Other Languages.

As well as being a member of the General Teaching Council of Great Britain, Irma is registered with the Home Office Central Interpreters Unit and is also a  professional member of the North West Translators Network.
